Our Program
The Art of Voice
The Broken Arrow Vocal Music Program is a community of singers committed to the pursuit of excellence, artistic expression, and meaningful connection.
Spanning five middle schools, the Freshman Academy, and Broken Arrow High School, our program serves students in grades 6–12 through a diverse collection of concert, chamber, jazz, and contemporary performance ensembles. Every student is invited to discover the possibilities of their voice, develop their musicianship, and experience the transformative power of creating music together.
Our program is built on the belief that excellence and belonging are not competing ideas—they are essential partners. We challenge students to listen deeply, think creatively, perform courageously, and contribute meaningfully to something larger than themselves.
Performance as Art
Our show choirs represent one of the signature traditions of Broken Arrow Vocal Music. Each middle school offers an auditioned show choir for students in grades 6–8, while the Freshman Academy and Broken Arrow High School offer the acclaimed Tiger Rhythm and Tiger Mystique ensembles.
Blending exceptional vocal musicianship, choreography, theatrical storytelling, and contemporary performance, our show choirs create experiences designed to move audiences and challenge performers. These ensembles rehearse extensively throughout the year and represent Broken Arrow at festivals, competitions, and performances throughout the region and nation.

A Place for Every Voice
Beyond our select ensembles, Broken Arrow Vocal Music offers a wide range of concert and developmental choirs throughout grades 6–12. Whether a student is stepping into a choir room for the first time or preparing for the highest levels of vocal performance, each ensemble provides meaningful opportunities to grow as a musician and as a person.
Our goal is simple: to give every student the knowledge, confidence, and artistic foundation to make music well—and to make music that matters.
Beyond the Classroom
Students throughout the Broken Arrow Vocal Music Program are encouraged to pursue opportunities beyond their daily ensembles through state, regional, and national honor choirs. Broken Arrow students have been consistently represented in organizations including the OCDA Junior High All-State Chorus, OMEA High School All-State Chorus, and national honor ensembles.
Our singers have also shared the stage and worked alongside leading artists and professionals, including Kenny Ortega, Kristin Chenoweth, Sandi Patty, and Patti LuPone, and have performed in distinguished venues including Carnegie Hall, the Ryman Auditorium, and the Genesee Theatre.
These experiences expand our students' understanding of what is possible—and remind them that their voices belong on stages far beyond the walls of their school.

The mission of the Broken Arrow Public Schools Department of Choral Activities is to cultivate a community where every student is known, valued, and empowered to find their voice.
Through choral music, we create spaces where students experience belonging, embrace vulnerability, develop artistic excellence, and learn to value the unique contributions of every individual.
We believe singing is more than the development of a musical skill. It is an invitation to listen, to connect, to communicate, and to become part of something greater than oneself.
Our Goals
Our program seeks to develop students who:
- Communicate with confidence through artistic, interpersonal, and professional interactions.
- Think critically and creatively through the study and performance of music.
- Understand music as a universal human language, exploring its ability to connect people across cultures, communities, and generations.
- Develop sophisticated musicianship through the study of vocal technique, literacy, repertoire, history, analysis, and performance.
- Experience and appreciate the arts through concerts, festivals, workshops, master classes, competitions, and other performance opportunities.
- Understand the cultural and historical significance of choral music and its place within the broader human experience.
